Designing a Brand to Taste Like a Memory

Overview

Debs W Remman isn’t just a Lebanese restaurant — it’s an attempt to bottle the feeling of nostalgia, family, and Beirut’s soul.
I was hired to create the brand from scratch, including its narrative, identity, interior experience, and even staff behavior.
The goal? Every person who walked in had to say:
“This reminds me of home.”

The Challenge

The F&B space in Doha was saturated with themed concepts and aesthetic-heavy restaurants that lacked soul.
The founders wanted to introduce a Lebanese brand — but not a generic one.
They wanted something that:

  • Didn’t scream “restaurant” — but told a story

  • Created deep emotional resonance with Lebanese expats

  • Stood out in both design and depth

The Approach

I led the brand from concept to full execution, blending culture with design:

  • Created the brand story around childhood flavors, local warmth, and collective memory

  • Developed a name — Debs W Remman (Molasses & Pomegranate) — poetic, flavorful, and deeply cultural

  • Built the visual identity using calligraphy, Beirut textures, and warm earthy tones

  • Directed the interior design to reflect old Beirut homes — not through clichés, but emotional texture: tiles, table shapes, staff tone of voice

  • Trained the staff to embody the brand personality, from greetings to serving rituals

  • Worked across identity, signage, packaging, menus, and full sensory experience

The Outcome

  • Debs W Remman quickly became one of the most loved Lebanese brands in Doha

  • Customers emotionally connected — many saying “This feels like my childhood”

  • The brand won multiple awards for authenticity and design

  • Used by the client as a benchmark for future restaurant concepts

  • Proved that with the right story and execution, a brand can create belonging, not just transactions

+ Need Brutal Clarity?

If you’re looking for someone to decorate your deck with jargon, I’m not your guy.
But if you want clarity, structure, and sparks — let’s go.
